Goobum

Fish Magnet's Goobum is a wide-body soft bait developed by Takuma Hata for modern Black Bass fishing situations where fish are actively feeding on baitfish suspended in mid-water. Its unique profile is designed to generate a strong presence in the water even with minimal movement, thanks to the combination of a voluminous body, knife tail, fork tail and side arms. Each element reacts to water pressure by producing different vibrations which, working together, create a complex, natural and highly lifelike action. Even during a simple straight retrieve, the GOOBUM generates continuous movement of its appendages and constant changes in posture, making it particularly effective at imitating a baitfish moving through the water column.

One of its main technical features is the special element positioned on the underside of the body, designed to accommodate a rattle or nail sinker and easily modify the lure's balance, weight and behavior according to fishing conditions. In a No Sinker Rig, this structure also acts as a brake and stabilizer, reducing excessive rolling and keeping the body stable during the retrieve. The weight distribution and unique geometry of the lower section therefore help to maintain a controlled and natural action even during slow presentations, allowing the angler to fish the GOOBUM with both steady retrieves and more technical rod movements.

The GOOBUM was also developed to deliver high performance with Jig Strolling techniques. The deep ribs on the lower section act almost like a joint and, together with the mass concentrated on the underside, allow the body to produce a powerful whip-like action, significantly increasing water displacement. This feature helps amplify the lure's movement during rod action and creates a particularly strong presence in mid-water. The combination of stability, multiple vibrations and strong water displacement makes the GOOBUM an extremely versatile soft bait for targeting active Black Bass as well as particularly selective fish.

Recommended rigs
- No Sinker Offset: a weightless setup recommended with a ZAPPU Bellows Hook #5/0. The ventral section acts as a stabilizer, keeping the lure balanced during straight retrieves and slow presentations.
- ZAPPU Magnum Bredy: size #6/0 is recommended, ideal for adding vibration and flashing while maintaining the characteristic action of the GOOBUM's appendages.
- Jig Strolling: the ZAPPU Bow Head Jig is recommended, replacing the original hook with a Bellows Hook #5/0 and trimming the skirt by approximately 1 cm.
This setup allows you to fully exploit the amplified body action during Jig Strolling.
