Maria's Chovy SF125 is a specialized "Shallow Runner" lure, specifically designed for Seabass game along rocky shores. It fully showcases its potential in the feeding zone just below the surface, with a seductive and tight pure rolling action. Its nearly horizontal swimming posture and suspending-like buoyancy realistically mimic the swaying movement of small baitfish (like anchovies) drifting within the foam of breaking waves.
KEY FEATURES
- Shallow runner: Designed to operate just beneath the surface with a tight and enticing "pure roll" action that imitates small fish drifting naturally in foamy surf conditions;
- Horizontal posture and near-suspending weight: Realistically reproduces the movement of a natural bait (like a wounded anchovy) lightly floating in white water;
- Turbulence-resistant: Maintains a stable and lifelike action even when affected by waves or currents;
- Short jerk side-dart action: Even in calm and windless conditions, a short lateral jerk triggers the predator's bite instinct.
SLOW FLOATING ACTION (SF)
In saltwater, the lure ascends very slowly, taking about 5–10 seconds to rise just 50 cm. This ultra-slow floating behavior closely mimics that of a suspending lure. To allow it to drift naturally within the foam, you can retrieve it slowly or simply stop retrieving and let the wind and waves carry it. In both scenarios, the lure remains just below the surface, minimizing vertical movement and maintaining depth thanks to its suspending-like setup.
*Note: In brackish (estuaries) or freshwater environments, the specific gravity changes, and the lure may shift from slow floating to slow sinking—so caution is needed.
HOOK MODIFICATION
- Replacing the stock trebles with thinner wire hooks (like Owner ST-46 #6 or #4) reduces total weight, allowing the lure to shift from SF (slow floating) to F (floating). This setup is ideal for fishing in shallower areas like beaches, flats, or while wading, and the action remains virtually unchanged. However, using hooks that are too small can significantly reduce hooking efficiency, as they may be undersized relative to the body of the lure;
- Conversely, equipping slightly larger hooks than the original (like Owner ST-56 #4) increases the total weight, shifting the lure from SF (slow floating) to SS (slow sinking). The action stays mostly the same, making it suitable for targeting big Seabass.
AVAILABLE COLORS
- 002 (Bloody Wound): Inspired by a bleeding, injured baitfish. The transparent flashing effect makes it highly effective during low activity periods, in full daylight, or under clear skies;
- 004 (Keimura Slit Glow): Fully UV-reactive (Keimura), with translucent sides and glow belly. Looks natural but stands out in murky water after storms;
- 014 (Keimura Cotton Candy): A classic "cotton candy" seabass color enhanced with UV glow. The crash hologram reflects light even in low-light conditions for broader visibility;
- 025 (Chart Orange): A pearlescent color that stands out in turbid water or at night. Clear hologram on the surface adds a mysterious glow for extra appeal;
- 026 (Red Head): One of the most iconic colors for seabass. Highly effective during low-light times like dawn or dusk, with its deep red head silhouette triggering bites;
- 033 (Katakuchi): Modeled after real anchovies. The metallic holo replicates shiny scales, perfect for midday fishing in bright, calm conditions;
- 034 (Sarashi Green): Fluorescent chartreuse green that stands out in white water, easily visible to both fish and angler. Helps trace the lure's path, even in shallow areas.
