Nature Boys's Watarigarasu 180F is a high-response floating diving pencil, designed to deliver a dynamic, stable and easy-to-control action even in demanding fishing conditions. It was born as the evolution and wooden revival of the legendary Watarigarasu 160F, but it's not simply a reissue of the original concept: the 180F project was developed with the aim of making the lure extremely intuitive, versatile and effective in the hands of any angler. It's a lure designed for shore and offshore fishing targeting big pelagic predators such as yellowtail kingfish, amberjack, tuna and GT. Its main strength is its ability to produce a pronounced wobble & roll action, combined with strong side flashes that stimulate the predatory instinct of the fish. Each rod input generates a quick and visible response, with a stable and fish-catching behavior even when current, sea conditions, tackle setup or retrieve style change. The body is made of wood, a material chosen to provide natural buoyancy, a lively response in the water and a more natural movement compared to many plastic lures. The wood construction allows the Watarigarasu 180F to maintain a balanced posture during the action, promoting a smooth movement just below the surface and good stability even in strong currents. The design was developed to minimize uncertainty during use. Since every angler applies different movements and every cast can vary depending on sea conditions, Nature Boys developed the Watarigarasu 180F to maintain an effective and repeatable action across a wide range of situations. Its geometry and internal balance allow the lure to enter the water correctly, cut through the current and develop a dynamic rolling action without requiring overly technical control. During tests carried out in highly selective areas such as the Goto Islands, Genkai Sea, Izu Islands, Sotobo, Wajima, Tsugaru Strait and Okinawa, the Watarigarasu 180F proved highly reliable on powerful and wary predators. Within the diving pencil category, it stands out as an extremely versatile model, capable of adapting to different fishing approaches while always maintaining strong attracting power.
How to use it?
The basic method for using the Watarigarasu 180F is the one-pitch jerk, alternating short and longer jerks according to fish activity and sea conditions. With each rod input, the lure produces a wobble & roll action accompanied by three or more clear flashes, generated by the side movement of the body. This combination of rolling movement and visual flashing is designed to trigger a reaction from predators even when they are not fully feeding. A very effective technique is to alternate one jerk with about five turns of the reel handle. After the jerk, the Watarigarasu 180F cuts through the current and continues swimming just below the surface, holding its depth without rising too quickly. This behavior extends the strike window, as the lure remains longer in the effective zone and continues to move naturally even during the straight retrieve.
