The TUNNU was born from the collaboration between Sergio Pesca and AB1, with the goal of delivering top-quality, Made in Italy products using the finest components on the market and the most advanced manufacturing processes. The TUNNU series has been specifically designed for Tuna Drifting, featuring a carbon blank with a Moderate action, Fuji SIC guides mounted in a spiral (with the second guide offset), a 20-micron anodized aluminum AB1 reel seat, and an ultra-rigid 28mm EVA grip (with a 30cm upper grip section).
BLANK
The one-piece, high-quality carbon blank with a Moderate action ensures exceptional performance when fighting tuna, even of big size. The action also allows for easier, safer, and more enjoyable retrieval of the catch. Along the blank, the SP logo is featured, along with a colored accent just above the grip that matches the color of the logo.
GUIDES
The rod is equipped with 10 Fuji SiC GMMNSG guides in a Gunsmoke finish. These are mounted in a spiral (acid wrap or spiral wrap) configuration, with the second guide offset so that the line always returns centered toward the reel. The spiral wrapping system provides enhanced stability during the fight, eliminating lateral twist and offering better control over the fish, reducing fatigue for the angler. The absence of torsion allows the blank to flex more smoothly and directly, better transmitting the vibrations and movements of the fish, making the angler more aware of every stage of the fight. Additionally, the line follows a smoother and more direct path, minimizing unwanted contact with the blank or guides, even when angled sideways. This is a true mechanical advantage, combining strength, comfort, and reliability!
GRIP, REEL SEAT AND GIMBAL
The TUNNU features a matte black 20-micron anodized aluminum AB1 reel seat, paired with a matching gimbal (equipped with a rubber cap), while the 28mm EVA grip measures 30cm in the upper section and 26.5cm in the lower section. This setup allows for a secure reel attachment and ensures a firm, comfortable grip during extended battles.
SP LOGO (in different colors to identify rod power)
To easily identify the rod's pound test rating, a color-coded system was adopted for the letter "P" in the SP logo: blue for the 50lb model and orange for the 30lb model.
