Trefle Creation's Telum 170S is a perfect big saltwater jerkbait! This is the first lure born from the collaboration between KM Koubou and Trefle Creation, developed starting from the original Telum version made in polyurethane by Mr. Kenji Hashimoto. Designed for both shore plugging and boat popping, the new Telum 170S in ABS guarantees casting distances of over 80 meters, successfully combining the three key performance factors: casting distance, action and depth. This is a sinking jerkbait equipped with fixed internal weights (not a weight-transfer system), which allows the lure to quickly reach the desired depth and enables two distinct retrieve styles: with steady retrieve, it does not swim like a traditional minnow (no wobbling or rolling), but performs an S-shaped swimming motion typical of sinking pencils; when jerked, it makes 1-meter-wide side-to-side darting movements, which would be impossible with internal ball weights, as those would shift too much and disrupt the action. A unique lure, specifically designed to target tuna, amberjack, and other large marine predators.
MAIN FEATURES
- Casting: Despite its slim, sinking profile, it has a weight similar to a diving pencil of the same size, allowing for long, accurate casts.
- Action: With wide, lateral jerks, it simulates a panicked baitfish trying to escape. This erratic movement is irresistible to pelagic predators.
- Fall: The lure sinks while maintaining a horizontal posture, making it effective even during pauses or on the fall.
- 3D Control: After water impact, it can be allowed to sink to the desired depth, then retrieved with consecutive jerks to cover the entire water column with a three-dimensional darting action.
- This type of jerkbait can create new strike opportunities, even when surface lures become ineffective.
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS
- To slow down the sink rate: use smaller trebles (#1/0) on both front and rear.
- In strong currents: use larger trebles (#3/0) to stabilize the motion.
- For deep-water fishing: use #3/0 in front and #1/0–#2/0 in the rear to maintain the correct lure posture.
- If you want to avoid upsizing the hooks: connect two split rings to increase the weight.§
- Hook size can be increased as long as it doesn't interfere with the lure's back.
- For single hooks: use sizes 5/0 or 6/0.
- Recommended split rings: sizes #7–#9.
Action: Sinking
