Shimano's Stella SW-D represents the latest evolution of the renowned STELLA SW, which has already achieved numerous successes in Japan and abroad, and now comes renewed with a range of new technologies! Improvements include enhanced drag performance thanks to the XX Tough Drag, greater casting distance with Infinity Loop, increased gear strength and durability with Infinity Xross, and line-tangle prevention with the Anti-Twist Fin—adding even more advantages to the new model. In addition, details have been refined, such as the addition of waterproof seals on the handle knob and a larger drag knob. Performance for confronting big saltwater predators has been further enhanced!
XX TOUGH DRAG - Evolved drag durability
Drag components that must withstand the most powerful runs are equipped with carbon washers specially developed for Stella SW, resistant to metal and wear. In addition to the lower washers used in previous models, the evolved spool structure allows large washers to be installed on the upper side as well. This innovation increases drag durability and longevity. Furthermore, combined with the Heat Sink Drag, heat-induced drag loss has been reduced by approximately 30% compared to previous models.

INFINITY LOOP - Oscillation system designed exclusively for SW
By winding the line with extreme precision, Infinity Loop improves casting distance, cast feel and drag smoothness. Features such as optimized line winding pitch, improved line lay on the spool, and a two-speed oscillation system enhance line release performance and reduce tangles. The benefits translate not only to smoother, longer casts, but also to smooth line release during vertical jigging. Even under strong currents or with heavy metal jigs, it minimizes line bite and allows the lure to reach the target depth quickly. After a hook-up, it maintains stable drag with minimal tension fluctuation, controlling even the strongest runs.
INFINITY XROSS - The heart of SW: enhanced gear strength and durability
Thanks to advances in design and manufacturing, Infinity Xross increases the contact area between the pinion and main gear. By distributing the load more evenly, it prevents damage and enhances durability. In the new Stella SW, tooth width has been increased by approximately 1.3 times compared to the previous model, ensuring smooth rotation even under high load.
ANTI-TWIST FIN - Line-tangle reduction
A small elastic fin positioned near the line roller reduces line slack and prevents line from falling onto the spool skirt. The elasticity of the material also protects knots during line retrieval.

AR-C SPOOL
The spool ring, with a specially designed shape, improves line flow, reducing tangles and increasing casting distance. The new 2025 Stella SW (SW-D) adopts a redesigned AR-C ring that further reduces the risk of line jumping over the spool ring. Because the spool is subjected to extreme loads during saltwater fishing, the ring surface is treated with a highly durable wear-resistant coating, protecting both the line and the spool.
X PROTECT & X SHIELD - Waterproof structure
The main threat in saltwater fishing is the intrusion of seawater, which corrodes internal metal parts and reduces performance. Stella SW is protected with seals in multiple areas (body, drag knob, line roller, etc.), blocking water entry paths. In particular, the body and stopper sections (anti-reverse mechanism) achieve an IPX8 waterproof rating. The revised structure maintains high water resistance while providing smoother, lighter rotation. High waterproofing and silky rotation are now fully realized. Even the handle knob features a waterproof design.
NEW LARGER DRAG KNOB
The Stella SW 2025, with further refined details on every part, features a drag knob increased by approximately 25% to enhance operability. This not only makes it easier to grip during quick adjustments but also allows for more precise fine-tuning. It provides a decisive advantage when it's necessary to tighten or loosen the drag quickly during the toughest battles.
COMPACT ROTOR DEDICATED TO THE 8000 MODEL
The X-Rigid Rotor, designed specifically for the 8000, is about 5 mm more compact than the 10000 model and reduces the weight of the spool + rotor assembly by roughly 50 g. This decreases inertia and greatly improves handling during casting (shore jigging, shore plugging, and offshore casting) as well as jigging. It pairs perfectly with PE3–4 lines for both rockshore and offshore fishing.
INFINITY CONNECT - Maximizing casting performance
The new Stella SW is designed with Shimano’s Infinity Connect philosophy, ensuring perfect compatibility with the new Ocea Plugger Limited rods and Ocea 17+PE braided lines. As an integrated system (reel, rod, line), it offers three main benefits: improved casting feel, longer casts, and better line strength retention. This provides a decisive advantage in offshore casting.
X RIGID HANDLE - High-Rigidity handle
The exclusive Stella SW handle is cold-forged with high rigidity, transmitting the angler's power without loss.
HIGH-RIGIDITY ARM CAM - Line roller structure
To increase rigidity, the arm cam housing the line roller is made of metal, like the rotor. It transmits Stella SW power without deformation during heavy-load retrieval or drag use. The metal plating keeps the surface smooth over time, reducing line wear.
LINE ROLLER - Stella SW exclusive
The line roller is DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coated to reduce friction and prevent line wear. It also features a contact-type waterproof seal that blocks seawater entry. Internal bearings are protected even under extreme conditions, providing over 10 times the durability of models without this system.
LINE ROLLER ANTI-LOOSENING MECHANISM
The line roller, which absorbs the initial pull of large fish, is equipped with an anti-loosening mechanism. The securing bolt is further fixed with a set screw for added stability.
CI4+ KNOB (excluding 14000 model)
The CI4+ carbon knob balances lightweight and high rigidity.
