MSS-892-TR "Afterrain GEKIRYU Special" (MONSTER STREAM 89 TR)
The second generation of the MONSTER STREAM 892 "Afterrain GEKIRYU Special" was developed specifically to tackle extreme-current rivers after heavy rainfall, major tidal movements, and situations where water pressure requires the use of high-density lures. Designed for targeting large seabass in violent and technical environments, this version radically evolves the concept of the first 892, improving lightness, sensitivity, responsiveness, and power under load. Thanks to TORZITE guides on a full titanium frame, the total guide weight has been reduced from 9.2 g to just 4.0 g, a reduction of 5.2 g, equal to 56.5%. The overall rod weight has also been significantly reduced, from 172 g to 143 g in the prototype version, saving 29 g, equal to 16.9%, while maintaining the same balance and noticeably increasing sharpness and precision. The blank uses an advanced composite structure. Compared to the first generation, which used 30t carbon in the tip and 30t + 40t carbon in the butt, the new MSS-892-TR adopts 30t + 40t carbon in the upper section and 30t + 40t + 46t carbon in the handle section. This configuration eliminates any feeling of sluggishness in the blank, increasing tension, sensitivity, and recovery speed both in the tip and in the power section. The MSS-892-TR was created to cover all those violent-current situations that are too demanding for a MID STREAM. It is designed for use with sinking minnows, sinking pencils, and vibrations in environments where the current requires compact, heavy, and highly controllable lures. In particular, it excels in back-current areas, water cuts, and bottom zones where vibrations and lipless lures need to work almost in contact with the bottom, as well as in situations where small jerks must be transmitted with precision despite strong water pressure. Tested in large and medium-sized rivers after heavy rainfall, with lures from 24 g to 31 g, the MSS-892-TR uses its compact 8'9" length to deliver fast, direct, and aggressive maneuverability. The tip is sensitive enough not to lose contact with the lure in current, yet solid enough not to collapse under water pressure. The handle section is extremely tough and progressive, allowing the angler to manage large seabass, even over 5 kg, while maintaining control and pulling power without having to change position on the spot. This is a rod built for specialists of the strongest currents: technical, reactive, and powerful, while still capable of clearly transmitting what is happening to the lure. The presence of 46t carbon is not simply a technical upgrade, but the result of data collected in the field under real flood conditions, where sensitivity, holding power, and control become decisive.

Action and performance
The MSS-892-TR features a fast-progressive action developed for the technical control of heavy lures in extreme current. The tip maintains a very precise balance between sensitivity and support, allowing the angler to detect water pressure, current changes, bottom contact, and lure behavior even in difficult conditions. The highly reactive blank allows short jerks, rhythm changes, and controlled retrieves without loss of energy, even with sinking minnows, lipless lures, and vibrations subjected to strong hydrodynamic traction. The butt offers a remarkable power reserve, with a progressive response capable of absorbing the runs of large fish while still imposing control during close-range fights or in side current. The rod allows full casts even with 28 g vibrations using a pendulum cast, while maintaining precision and stability. It is optimized for lures from 24 g to 31 g, with the best match indicated around 21 g for minnows and around 28 g for vibrations, while supporting a maximum range of up to 40 g. To achieve maximum reliability while fishing, the use of compact friction knots without excessive bulk on the leader is recommended. The ideal leader length is between 1.0 m and 1.5 m, with the connection knot kept outside the tip guide during the cast. The use of overly long leaders is not recommended.

Large and medium-sized rivers with very strong current, especially after heavy rainfall, flood conditions, areas with major tidal height differences, river mouths with a salt wedge, back currents, deep water cuts, large canals, and environments where heavy lures must be controlled under strong hydrodynamic pressure.
