Pakatto Basket

Sany's Pakatto Basket is a technical groundbait feeder designed for controlled bait dispersion, ideal for techniques such as vertical boat fishing, Sabiki fishing, as well as shore and beach fishing. Its main function is to hold and gradually release chum bait into the water, creating an attractive scent trail around the bait or rig. The book-style opening structure allows extremely fast loading: the basket opens into two halves, making it easier to insert the chum bait and reducing preparation time during fishing. This system is particularly useful when using chum bait with different consistencies, whether more compact, softer, or rich in particles.

The chum release can be adjusted through dedicated openings on the upper and lower sections, allowing you to adapt dispersion according to current, depth, particle size, and fish activity. The lower section is equipped with a swivel and snap, where a sinker can be attached. The sinker weight can be selected or changed depending on fishing conditions, tide, and current. A lighter weight is recommended in calm or shallow waters, while a heavier weight helps maintain the rig’s balance and vertical position in stronger currents or deeper water.

In Sabiki fishing, using a groundbait feeder instead of a simple sinker is common because it allows the groundbait to disperse around the Sabiki hooks.

How to use?
1) Open the basket by separating the two halves of the Pakatto Basket
2) Insert the chum bait inside, without compressing it too much if you want a faster release
3) Adjust the upper and lower openings according to the current and the consistency of the chum bait: open them wider for greater dispersion, or keep them more closed for a slower, controlled release
4) Connect the feeder to the rig, generally underneath, in place of the sinker, or near the Sabiki rig depending on the technique used
5) Lower it slowly into the water to avoid tangles and allow the chum bait to start dispersing
6) Move the rod with gentle vertical motions to help the chum bait come out and attract fish toward the hooks
7) Refill when necessary: thanks to the quick-opening design, the feeder can be reloaded quickly even during intense fishing sessions.
8) Rinse with fresh water after use to keep the opening and adjustment system working efficiently.
