Studio Ocean Mark's Ocean Grip OG2920SD is the new Premium Grip equipped with an integrated 20 kg scale. Completely redesigned compared to the previous generation, it has been developed to offer the best possible balance of structural strength, accuracy and lightweight performance. The grip is made from SUS316 stainless steel, a premium-grade material offering excellent corrosion resistance and the ability to naturally regenerate its protective surface layer. This configuration is identified by the designation SD, meaning Super Durability, and is designed to ensure outstanding reliability and long-term performance even under intensive use in marine environments. The machined aluminium body, four-point fastening system and newly developed jaw geometry provide a stable and secure hold, even when handling large fish. The integrated 20 kg scale also allows accurate weight measurements to be taken directly during landing operations.
Over Fender Design
When a fish is lifted, it may thrash violently and generate considerable stress on the jaws and their pivot points. In addition to reinforced fixing and opening axes, the body features the exclusive Over Fender Design, a structure developed to protect the base of the jaws from deformation. This configuration reduces the risk of the grip bending or losing its correct alignment when subjected to heavy loads.
20 kg Scale
The integrated scale uses a corrosion-resistant stainless steel measuring spring with a maximum capacity of 20 kg. Its level of accuracy is comparable to that required for commercial weighing scales, allowing the fish's weight to be measured reliably. A dedicated stopper also prevents the spring from being overstretched if a load exceeding the stated maximum capacity is applied.
Premium Finish
The grip and body are made from lightweight, high-rigidity aluminium and produced through a sophisticated CNC machining process. The distinctive variable chamfering of the surfaces is created through a complex milling programme, producing depth and contrast while maintaining a predominantly flat profile. The chamfered sections are then finished with a dual anodising treatment in a different colour from the main body, giving the product a refined, technical and three-dimensional appearance.
High Rigidity with Four-Point Support
The body structure is assembled using four screws evenly distributed from the front to the rear. This high-rigidity support system limits frame flex and effectively reduces jaw misalignment when the fish is gripped from different angles. The result is greater stability under load and more precise, consistent operation over time.
New Grip Shape
The previous jaw geometry, characterised by a sharper profile, has been completely redesigned using a new three-dimensional machining process. The updated shape provides a stable hold from the moment it makes contact with the fish’s mouth, reducing the risk of slipping during lifting. The less aggressive profile also helps prevent the tip from piercing or excessively damaging thinner and more delicate areas of tissue.
Surface Design
The Surface Design is one of the distinctive features shared by all Ocean Grip models. The transitions between components, joints and screw protrusions are shaped with smooth, uniform contours, creating an outer surface with no excessively exposed points. This configuration reduces the risk of hooks, assist hooks, split rings or fishing line accidentally becoming caught on the body of the tool during fishing operations.
