17-BRAID (16+1) CONSTRUCTION
It features a 16-braid construction that ensures a smooth surface and excellent line release during casting. For its development, Shimano drew inspiration from the 16-layer structure of automotive brake cables, capable of withstanding repeated impacts while maintaining flexibility. By applying this principle, a completely new PE line was created. The presence of a central core prevents deformation caused by twisting or crushing, allowing the initial performance to last longer. This is a PE line with greater strength than any other Shimano PE ever produced, enabling anglers to take on the largest fish with complete confidence!
ADVANCED ABRASION RESISTANCE
The Ocea 17+ PE has far superior abrasion resistance compared to previous models. Normally, in a PE braid with a high strand count, the individual filaments are thinner than those of other lines of the same size, which improves surface smoothness but reduces abrasion resistance. This contradiction has been solved thanks to the adoption of the new SF700 yarn, designed with filaments three times thicker than conventional standards, providing outstanding abrasion resistance already at the fiber level. On top of this, Shimano's exclusive surface treatment further enhances protection.
BRIGHTER AND LONGER-LASTING COLORS
Thanks to a new dyeing technology for PE, color retention has been dramatically improved. The colors remain bright and highly visible much longer than traditional PE lines, making it easier to track lure trajectory during casting and assess the distance from the fish during the fight.
