The GT model is designed for the legendary Giant Trevally (GT), the ultimate icon of tropical Big Game fishing! A legendary, brutal, and powerful opponent, capable of breaking both gear and spirit. To take it on, Deps developed the HUGE Custom Big Game "GT", a rod series fine-tuned for power, casting performance and control. The blank is designed to handle long-distance casting with heavy lures, while the guide layout minimizes line friction, greatly improving casting distance and accuracy. Though not lightweight in absolute numbers, these rods offer superior balance, making them feel lighter in hand and significantly reducing fatigue, even during extended sessions and intense fights.
JOINT GRIP MECHANISM (PAT.P)
To make them travel-friendly, Deps engineered a patented detachable grip system, allowing the rod to be broken down even in the handle section, something rarely possible.
This unique joint offers:
- Zero looseness or play, even under heavy load;
- A smooth, natural bend curve, similar to a one-piece rod;
- Proven field durability, tested against giant GTs.
Note: The ELASTIC PARTS (like in the pictures) are not glued, take care during assembly/disassembly to avoid losing them.
GUIDE SETTING - Smooth, long and accurate casting
The guides are set up to minimize friction as the line exits the rod, offering a clean, low-resistance casting feel.
- Stainless steel frame + SiC rings, double-wrapped to protect the blank;
- Internal diameter approx. 10 mm, allowing Studio Ocean Mark #6 snaps to pass through, so leaders can be pre-rigged before your trip.
GT-784XH
A shorter version of the GT-824XH, this rod is ideal for smaller boats or anglers who prioritize maneuverability and precision. It excels with pencil and diving pencil lures, offering high sensitivity and total control, perfect for technical presentations from any angle.
