Daiwa's Emeraldas AIR is Daiwa's flagship Eging Game reel, designed to maximize control, sensitivity and durability while keeping weight to a minimum. The AIRDRIVE DESIGN technology reduces rotating masses and optimizes balance: the lightweight rotor (AIRDRIVE ROTOR) decreases start-up inertia, the special bail (AIRDRIVE BAIL) guides line release with less friction, the thin-walled spool (AIRDRIVE SPOOL) improves drag responsiveness and casting efficiency, while the next-generation shaft (AIRDRIVE SHAFT) with non-contact pinion support minimizes rotational friction even under heavy load. The MONOCOQUE BODY increases rigidity and sealing, allowing for the adoption of a larger drive gear with superior torque and durability. MAGSEALED protection on the body and line roller creates a magneto-fluid barrier against water, salt and dust, preserving smoothness and sensitivity over time. The ZAION composite material (high-density carbon resin) used for body and rotor combines extreme lightness with structural strength. The TOUGH DIGIGEAR gearing, crafted from super duralumin through precision machining and treated with a special surface hardening process, ensures smooth rotation and long-lasting performance in the demanding conditions of eging. The ATD TYPE-L drag system delivers a soft, progressive startup, following the squid's head shakes without sudden spikes, while the LC-ABS spool reduces line friction, increases casting distance, and minimizes trouble. The reel is completed with a non-slip EVA Power Round Knob, a compact Perfect Line Stopper compatible with both PE and leader lines, a stopper-less body (fewer entry points for water and lower complexity), and a 12-bearing system (SUS/CRBB) placed at high-load points for constant stability and smoothness. The result is an extremely lightweight, well-balanced and silent reel, capable of translating even the smallest rod movements into precise egi control, while maintaining high performance in saltwater environments and during prolonged fishing sessions.
AIRDRIVE DESIGN
An innovative system composed of four technologies. It optimizes not only lightness but also recovery smoothness and fluidity. Rotational inertia has been significantly reduced without compromising robustness and strength — both hallmarks of Daiwa reels.
AIRDRIVE ROTOR
New geometry rotor, hollowed where material is unnecessary: reduces startup inertia and increases sensitivity in the first "quarter turn", improving egi control and weak bite detection.
AIRDRIVE BAIL
Lightweight, reduced-diameter bail with optimized angle: guides the line smoothly from bail to roller, decreasing friction and reducing the chance of line snags.
AIRDRIVE SPOOL
Thin-walled spool, further lightened internally: facilitates line release and drag start-up, improves casting distance and consistency and enhances drag response under load.
AIRDRIVE SHAFT
Main shaft with a "non-contact" structure between pinion and shaft, supported by bearings at both ends of the pinion: reduces parasitic friction and rotation noise to nearly zero, even under heavy load.
MONOCOQUE BODY
High-precision side plate screwed directly into the body (no traditional side cover): increases rigidity and sealing, allows for a larger drive gear (greater torque, longer life), and improves external protection.
TOUGH DIGIGEAR
Drive gear made of super duralumin, precision machine-cut and surface-hardened: withstands load peaks and wear, ensuring smoother and more durable rotation.
ATD TYPE-L
Drag tuned for "soft start-up": engages smoothly without jerks and follows the pull progressively, reducing hook pulls and allowing the angler to focus on the fight.
