Cima 140SL

Apia's Cima 140SL is a new minnow designed by Mr. Jungo Hayashi known as "Jerkman", and developed specifically for targeting sea-run Sakura salmon, while also being highly suitable for coastal predators such as seabass, bluefish, barracuda and more. The concept behind the new Cima 140SL is to reproduce the behavior of a fleeing baitfish while maintaining a stable and natural posture even when subjected to sudden accelerations or aggressive jerks. Its streamlined body, combined with Apia's original Linear Engine weight transfer system (PAT.P), ensures an extremely stable flight posture and allows the lure to achieve outstanding casting distances, among the best in its class, even in headwinds. This makes it possible to search wide areas quickly and efficiently, especially in open spots and challenging weather conditions.

From a hydrodynamic perspective, the Cima 140SL produces a stable and clearly defined wobbling and rolling action, maintaining consistent performance even during high-speed retrieves. The Linear Engine is positioned in the front section of the body and, once the cast is completed, the weight is locked in place by a powerful magnet, preventing the centre of gravity from shifting during the retrieve. This solution allows the lip to maintain a constant grip on the water, preventing the lure from losing balance, breaking out of its action or rising out of the water during jerking and more aggressive retrieves.

One of its most distinctive characteristics is its ability to accurately reproduce a fleeing baitfish during daytime fishing, when strong light conditions can make predators more selective and less willing to attack slowly retrieved lures. During a fast retrieve, the Cima 140SL imitates a panicked baitfish, triggering the predatory instinct and provoking reaction strikes. With a steady retrieve, it maintains a regular and controlled wobbling-roll action, while strong jerks produce rapid changes of direction without compromising stability. A free-moving counterweight is positioned in the rear section, amplifying the rolling action during the retrieve, increasing side flashing and overall attraction. The combination of the front-mounted Linear Engine, magnetic locking system and rear free weight creates an extremely precise balance, making the Cima 140SL a powerful, stable and versatile minnow developed to maintain maximum effectiveness even at high speed. It comes equipped with three BKK FANGS-62UA #4 treble hooks.
