Studio Ocean Mark's Blue Heaven Magbrake is the ultimate casting reel! Thanks to its technical features developed over many years of research by the Japanese brand Studio Ocean Mark, this reel delivers top-level performance, both in casting distance and in lure and fish retrieval.
MAG DIAL
The "Mag Dial" is a magnetic braking adjustment ring located on the upper front part of the palm side. It does not interfere during casting or retrieval. Its short travel allows for ultra-fast and precise braking adjustments.
MAGNETIC BRAKE SYSTEM (MagBrake System)
This is an electromagnetic induction brake system: the braking force automatically adapts to the rotor's rotational speed throughout the entire cast. Large neodymium magnets allow for ultra-precise micro-adjustments. To drastically change braking power (e.g., depending on lure type or bottom structure), simply add or remove magnetic discs (factory setup for 75XH: three 2.5 mm thick magnets).
ULTRA-HIGH GEAR RATIO (Dynamic Gear Design)
The gear ratio has been raised to match the fastest spinning reels, allowing total control over lure action. The "Dynamic Gear Design" optimizes efficiency and durability even at high speeds, thanks to redesigned teeth and hand-finished machining.
DEDICATED SPOOL
The BHL-spool, designed for jigging reels, has been widened to maintain a consistent line exit diameter, preventing distance loss during the cast. An aluminum side disc stabilizes the brake's magnetic induction. There is also a "summability" area on the palm side, allowing for finger pressure modulation outside the spool’s widest diameter.
CASTING-SPECIFIC DRAG LEVER
Its extended, curved shape prevents the line from tangling on the lever even in crosswinds, enabling ultra-accurate casting with no distractions.
ROUND BRIDGE
The bridge on the spool side has been expanded to the maximum size allowed in the BHL series to prevent the "ballooning" line from touching the frame, minimizing line wear.
SEMI-WATERPROOF DRAG SYSTEM
The spool is protected by a waterproof cover, and the drag washers are sealed with a rubber ring. This system provides excellent water resistance during retrieval, while still ensuring smooth line flow.
CARBON AND STAINLESS STEEL DRAG WASHERS
The carbon/stainless steel combination ensures smooth drag starts and easy power release. To limit heat generation, the carbon discs are lubricated with high-heat-resistant “Alcon” grease. The stainless-steel discs are mounted on an aluminum base designed to dissipate heat efficiently.
DYNAMIC GEAR SYSTEM
An evolution of the "Mountain Module" gears, featuring larger teeth, an optimized profile, and hand-finishing that enhance retrieval efficiency and produce the signature powerful and precise "SOM" sound.
DOUBLE-BEARING PINION SUPPORT
The pinion paired with the drive gear is supported by both an angular contact bearing and a radial bearing to eliminate micro-movements and transfer all handle power directly to the spool with no loss.
WATERPROOF ANGULAR CONTACT BEARING
This high-performance bearing is protected by a rubber cap that blocks saltwater intrusion, greatly increasing longevity.
OTHER FEATURES
- New compact bearing holder: contains a 12 mm one-way bearing (more anti-reverse strength than two 10 mm bearings in series), a large radial bearing, and an oil-sealed gasket for maximum waterproofing.
- Ergonomic lead-design: asymmetrical protrusions around the gearbox perimeter let you "feel" the drag lever's position without looking, for instant tactile control.
- EVA AG45 AIR GLOBE SHAPE knob: the spherical shape follows the "globe" concept and offers stable grip from any angle.
- Adjustable-length handle: shortened from 110 mm to 98 mm for quicker response, made of duralumin with structural slots to increase strength.
- Super spool-free: during free spool, only two small bearings are in contact; during retrieval, a large bearing supports the spool firmly. This system uses the drag lever's profile to offer a cast with no perceivable inertia.
- Mechanical anti-reverse: a classic mechanical ratchet engages if the one-way bearing fails, preventing any backward motion of the handle.
