APIA's Baleine 160SPL is the new suspending version of the Baleine 160, a lipless minnow designed under the supervision of Kunihiko Hamamoto, developed for anglers seeking high performance in seabass fishing and pelagic species, even in demanding conditions. While retaining its large 160 mm silhouette, the Baleine 160SPL works effectively in the mid-water column, reaching a maximum depth of approximately 80 cm, making it ideal for exploiting currents, tidal flows and changing water movements that often make the difference when targeting big fish. Its action is defined by a natural and fluid rolling motion, able to adapt to changes in current without losing stability or appearing unnatural, even during more technical retrieves. The body absorbs water pressure and maintains a consistently realistic movement, significantly increasing strike opportunities, even from wary fish. Despite its substantial size, the Baleine 160SPL remains extremely well-balanced and easy to control. At the core of the lure is the Linear Engine (PAT.P), which delivers exceptional casting distance, allowing anglers to reach distant spots and areas normally inaccessible with traditional big baits. This makes it perfectly suited for river mouths, harbors, rocky shorelines, beaches and wide rivers, where covering water efficiently and maintaining lure control in strong currents is essential. The red eye, a distinctive feature of the SPL model, allows for immediate identification. When used in combination with the surface-running Baleine 160FL, it enables anglers to cover multiple depth ranges depending on spot conditions and bait presence, greatly expanding the chances of landing large specimens. The lure is equipped with three #2 BKK FANGS-62UA treble hooks.
