Studio Ocean Mark's Blue Safari 35Hi is a new saltwater baitcasting reel, the first ever produced by Studio Ocean Mark! So far SOM has always been dedicated to the design and production of bait reels. This first saltwater baitcasting reel project (with the typical dimensions of a 300 class) is truly extraordinary and one of a kind. In fact, in addition to all the technical features that will be explained later, the new Blue Safari features the new "WING DRAG" system, never seen before, and a double speed line guide system.

WING DRAG
It's a new drag system that is as easy to use as a classic star drag system and as easy to understand the friction intensity as a lever drag system. The force can be adjusted in 4 stages (distinguished by 4 clicks) with a mechanism that activates the resistance by moving the wing-shaped lever back and forth. The amount of change is around 400-500g per click from where the initial drag value is adjusted thanks to the preset, located next to the lever.

How to set the clutch:
1) Move the lever forward (toward yourself);
2) Rotate the preset to set the initial drag value as desired (never adjust the preset with the lever closed, i.e. turned backwards);
3) The amount of drag can be adjusted step by step by turning the wing lever backwards.

When, during the fishing action, you want to change the drag setting, it's possible to do it also when the wing lever is in the intermediate phase (i.e. 2 clicks at minimum, forward, and two clicks at maximum, backwards). In this case:
1) Move the wing lever to the center (perpendicular to the handle);
2) Turn the preset to set the initial drag value as you like;
3) When the wing lever is pushed forward (toward yourself), the drag value decreases, and when it's pushed backwards, the drag value increases.

Winding power inherited from Blue Heaven
The Blue Safari features a machined aluminum gearbox and frame, with high modulus gearing inherited from the Blue Heaven series. This results in strong lifting power with excellent body rigidity and a high modulus gear that does not deform even when a heavy load is applied. The lifting force transmission efficiency has been improved by 9% compared to all other 300 class baitcasting reels.

Line guide with 2 speed levels
The Blue Safari features a special 2-speed interlocking line guide. The line guide's 2-speed reciprocating motion, which repeats dense winding and twill winding, allows you to fight fish without worrying that the line will get damaged under high load.

Wide spool
The Blue Safari uses a wider spool; in this way there is a small change in the amount of line winding which, as it increases, improves the action imparted to the jig.

Heavy duty drag
While the drag bars of the other reels are made from plastic, the drag bars and cams on the Blue Safari 35 are made from stainless steel, boasting superior strength and durability. Additionally, DLC coating is applied to the drag rod to reduce friction during contact with the sprocket and achieve smooth drag operation that does not shift even under high load or extended use.

Carbon drag washer + Stainless drag disc
The combination of carbon drag washers and stainless steel drag plates that provides smooth initial movement and stable friction force, demonstrating excellent drag performance that does not change during long fights.

Waterproof drag design
The drag system, consisting of several drag washers, is covered with waterproof rubber. Prevents water from entering the drag disc even in offshore conditions where it is constantly exposed to water, contributing to a stabl retrieve.

Newly developed handle design
The knob used is the Studio Oceam Mark AG41. The handle has a variable system, 76mm and 63mm, designed to be counterbalanced at 76mm and fully balanced at 63mm. The 76 mm counterweight simplifies the use of jigs; in this way it's possible to set the handle according to the fishing technique.
